Customers commuting to Ajman will be required to cough a little extra cost beginning July 1, 2025, after an increase in the fuel prices unveiled by the UAE Fuel Price Committee. Going by this, Ajman Transport Authority has revised the taxi fare to Dh1.76 per kilometre up against June figures of Dh1.74per kilometre.
This revised fare was posted on the official X (previously Twitter) account of the authority and it is in tandem with the monthly changes of fuel prices by the Ministry of Energy.
Why the Fare Hike?
This fare hike is highly closely connected with increased costs of fuel throughout UAE. On the first weeks of June, world oil markets showing a sharp rise in price on the onset of conflict between Iran and Israel and the U.S. launching airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. Such geopolitical disturbances have led volatility in the international market of energy and this has led to rise in the cost of petrol and diesel.
Its fuel prices are also revised every month depending on crude prices all over the globe and the cost it takes to distribute it to local firms.
UAE Fuel Prices for July 2025
The ministry of energy has announced the following fuel prices effective/starting July 1:
- Super 98: AED 3.30-PC
- Special 95: aed 3.18/litre
- Diesel: @ AED 3.07 per litre
This implies that it will be expensive to fill a tank in July as compared to the earlier months, which has a direct impact on taxi business and those of taxi fares in other emirates such as Ajman.

- Past Fare (June 2025): Dh1.74 / kilometre

Although the increment might appear to be insignificant, it can affect the daily commute expenditure which is more alarming to both the residents and workers as they travel using cabs regularly within or to or/and the emirate.
Broader Impact
Ajman, in the recent times, has followed other emirates in modifying the rate of transport in regards to fuel price fluctuations. When these recalibrations are done every month, it reduces the impact on the economy both on the transport providers and the passengers as it makes sure the services continue to operate and make economic sense in the presence of the external perturbations in the market.
As an example, a 10 km journey in July will be priced today at Dh17.60, as compared to Dh17.40 before, and there will be larger differences with time between the more lengthy journeys.
What Can Commuters do?
In order to cope with the extra price, the commuters may take into consideration:
- Buses and shared taxis are affordable for everyone
- Monthly trip arrangements or travel cards (in case they were offered)
- Riding with colleagues or friends in a carpoolingCarpooling with colleagues/ friends
- Ride-hailing apps are an option to take discounted rides
Conclusion
The fare adjustment of Ajman is a process of ensuring a uniformity of transportations prices to the standards and requirements of the international market. The monthly updates of fares are probably going to be here to stay since fuel rates are still volatile, depending on what happens in other parts of the world.
Commuters are requested to monitor fuel and fare changes and estimate their traveling money.
